This little animal was sitting in a garden in Moulay Bousselham, Morocco. I had never seen one like this before. If anyone knows what animal this is, please comment.

It's a grasshopper! I used to catch these things back when I was a kid. Never found them in Canada though. I haven't seen these in a long while.

You can tell that it jumps because of how the rear pair of legs are set up. It'd be nice if someone could give the scientific name though.

It appears that it is not full grown. The wings are undeveloped. So size cannot be accurately determined. That said, the scientific name can best be provided by someone having knowledge of Morrocan insects. But it is a Toothpick Grasshopper. A similar specimen native to U.S. would be the Achurum sumichrasti.

Very interesting and strange grasshopper. I like how he stands out against the blue/white and rust background.
