Donk syn. Clavaria pistillaris Fr. Pestle-shaped Coral. Fruit body 7-30cm high, 2-6cm wide, forming a large club swollen at its apex; light yellow to deep ochre, with a purplish-lavender bloom over the stem; dry, smooth, with longitudinal wrinkles on the lower part of the club; never branching. Flesh firm then soft and spongy; white, bruising brownish. Odor sickly, mushroomy. Taste mild to bitter. Spores ellipsoid, smooth, (7.5) 9-13.8(16) x 4.5-7.5µ. Deposit white to yellowish. Habitat gregarious to solitary in leaf litter, especially beech. Found widespread in North America and also in Europe. Season July-October. Edible. wow at first glance i thought these things were the severed legs of mannequins...some weird perspective i have going today! interesting...i wouldn't want to eat those. nice shot, and nice gallery as well.

I was tricked like winterswhim but I though they were artificial legs or something. Is that ivory colouring natural or has it come from a flashgun? It’s interesting to note the lack of bug bites marks, perhaps they aren’t so tasty. That’s an interesting photo.

First of all I must ask you since you live in Sweden, are you related to Peter Forsberg?...he's my very favorite hockey player, lol...secondly, I too was fooled by this image...not certain at first what I was viewing...they definitely resemble figurines and standing in the woods I wondered who or what they were at first...very unusual fungi and interesting to hear they are edible...great find and wonderful dark glowing environment...very nice shot and thanks for sharing both the info and the image.:Pat.
