Hi Katerina and welcome to Caedes. Your image "The Gargoyles of Paris" is amazing. Not sure if you had to sit on the roof top to get it but whatever you did, it's awesome. I hope you enjoy the community out here as much as I do and we'll look forward to your future posts. Anita

When I saw that gargoyle I immediately thougt "Notre Dame" , and I see I was right=D
This is a great photo; the DOF, sharpness, composition and of course the view. As for improvements I would remove or crop the thing in the upper left corner. But in all this is a great photo!

Thank you all for the comments. I didn't exactly have to sit on the roof top to get this pic (although it took me a few steps to get up there), but it certainly took some effort as there were barriers all around. Josse, I know it would look better without the thing in the upper corner, but I had sooo many problems with uploading that I couldn't do that as well. I hope you' ll find future posts better.

Welcome to Caedes Katrina. I'm glad you got your uploading problem fixed. This is a very impressive posting. Extremely well composed and has clarity that's remarkable from gargoyle to the Eiffel Tower. I can only imagine what you might have in store for us.

PS: Keith ... you deserve some "Thanks" here as well ... I think you went the extra mile and then some to assist Katrina the way you did. *pats Keith on back but refrains from hugging* ... I don't want to set any tongues wagging.

I just love this Katerina. I've always been fascinated by gargoyles. I just love the perspective here of how it is looking over the city. Welcome to Caedes also. A memorable first post.

Amazing capture, Katerina. You obviously aren't afraid of heights. The angle in this shot is just incredible! The DOF isn't bad either!! Well done and welcome to the best site on the web.

Well, it wasn't as difficult as it may seem Bob. On top of the Notre Dame there are narrow corridors so you can walk around the whole thing. The only problem was that there where barriers (to make sure that tourists won't fall off I guess), so you had to really streach out your arms to get a clear view... Ok, I agree, we're all a bit crazy but I'm not crazy enough to stand somewhere that high and risk falling! Thanks, for the comment, I'm happy you like it.

Took a similar shot years ago before digital photography was invented. You certainly need a head for heights with this one. Great shot Katerina.

A very well taken image, i see it is your first posting here, and what a blast it is.
It combines the old and new world in just one vivid and dynamic image.
Besides that, with less good weather and light, it can be hard to get sharpness as well in the foreground as in dept, you succeeded well here.
Welcome to Caedes, looking forward to your next posting.

Great composition, Katerina. I have been up there. It amazes me how many gargoyles grace that tower. I don't recall gargoyles being part of christian dogma. Go figure. Cool shot anyway.

im shocked ive not commented on this image before
ive looked at it a 100x!

this is a phenominally well thought out photo
intelligently composed
and tells a superb story

is it a sentinel of safely over the city?
or is it some dark force biding its time before it pounces?

well done

This is an nteresting composition, I like how you were able to capture the gargoyle as if it is watching over the city. Great work and nice job on your other pics as well.
