A large split boulder of local Borrowdale volcanic lava placed on the boulder strewn shore to mark 100 years of the National Trust in the Lake District. Located on the western shore of Derwentwater with Walla crag to the left & Castle crag in the distance. This is a follow on from my previous post, taken on the same winter day. It was a difficult shot to get as I didn't have my tripod with me so I shall return to this scene another day for sure & try again. Comments & critique always welcome :)

For not having your tripod there you didn't do too bad!

Great shot Mick, I think your tripod and some bracketing would have evened out the exposure to make a cracking scene, saying this you managed very well hand held. Im guessing those stones are quite big and not something you can put in your pocket. I must pay it a visit some time, maybe pop down there when it warms up.

I am fascinated with that boulder and surrounding shoreline. I like this low perspective. I hope you do return when the skies cooperate more. Saved to view longer!

The work of art may have a moral effect, but to demand moral purpose from an artist is to make him ruin his work. (Johann Wolfgang von Goethe - 1832)
