Ask PJ or 'Phasmid'! For some reason I am certain she will know! :o)
As a matter of fact when I saw this thumbnail, I figured it just might be one of hers! Take it as a compliment... both of you! A fine shot! :o)
About the only criticism might be the crop of the top of the flower. It may have been better if it were there. :o)
It appears that the flowers in front are somwhat out of ficus, while the deeper ones are sharply focused...yet the leaves all appear to be in focus regardless of depth. An interesting post, I think I would have pulled the front ones into focus though.
Mr. Smith is correct, of course. We have a lot of these where I lived up here in the North Country of New England. What Con is referring to is that I entered a contest featuring our state flower, the lilac, last spring and asked the members here to help me pick out a good one to present.
I love the color of this one and your composition is good as well. The focus could be a bit better, but I know how hard it is to capture the whole flower as they have such great depth.
We don’t make art to show someone what something looks like. All this requires is eyes (or a lens). Art is supposed to have meaning, emotion, power, or magic. Alan & Mario "FourThirds"
