The Best of Times, The Worst of Times. I was all set to go, weeks of planning, a Canon 5DSr, Canon 70-200 f2.8L II, Hoya ND 100,000 Filter Location, a field driveway southeast of Reserve Kansas, approximately 50 feet from the exact centerline of the 100% path of totality. Arrived early enough to pick a good spot, however the clouds rolled in and I did not have enough time to drive to a clear sky location, this photograph was taken 4 minutes before the total eclipse, at the moment of totality the cloud cover was so dense I did not see anything, I waited a week to even look at the pictures I did take So in 2024 the next Total Solar Eclipse will pass in the vicinity of Niagara Falls, so this time I will take the advice of others, when going for a total eclipse, go someplace very interesting, because there is always the chance of cloudy skies All that being said, it was still an incredible experience.

I know the feeling Paul!:( It was very overcast here in Walnut Creek, Ca. and even though we knew it was not going to be a full eclipse here, it was still worth viewing but I did manage to get a shot through the clouds like you did when I reached work that day. This is still worth looking at and yes, what a thrilling day!!:) Thanks for sharing:)

Full / partial eclipses I've seen in Britain Paul are far more likely to be obscured by clouds. Hope that's of some comfort to you!

This image has a real smoky feel.
