If only I could hear again. In October of 2012 I began having very strange symptoms, very random severe episodes of dizziness. My ears would ring loud instantly, scaring me making me jumpy. They would also have a sharp pain in them. I began noticing a difference in my hearing, and I was becoming depressed, jumping from doctor to doctor not knowing what was wrong with me. I was finally diagnosed with Menieres Disease on April 4th of 2013. In a long story short it is major fluid retention in the inner ears. My Dr. said usually people who have the disease only get it in one ear, and are in their 40's and up...its very rare for a girl my age(18) to get it..especially in both ears. So with every episode of dizziness I endure, I suffer a little more hearing loss each time. It has gotten to the point of not being able to hear a person speaking right in front of me among a crowd. Also cannot hear you at all if your head is turned away from me. I do know ASL and I can lip reading, but I long for my youthful vigor and crystal clear hearing, but im stuck in this sick body. So I put my feelings down on paper. This is my first piece of art I posted on Caedes, and I will be posting more in the near future.

Kayla, I'm so sorry you're losing your hearing, and at just 18... You must be filled with emotion about it. I hate that life is so unfair, but what I see in your words is a courage to meet your disease head on. Your work of art says volumes, it's as if the ear you drew is crying out to hear the music... I'm really looking forward to more art from you.

If you look on the Brightside, this narrative just makes you more interesting, because sometimes people relate to these kind of things and relate to getting through them. I'm very sorry about your hearing, I hope you soon feel better. Sorry if I offended you in any way I know I wouldn't understand, but I have gone through things with common grounds. Very brilliant artwork I love the shading and the shape of the ear!

A wonderful work of art Kayla. I'm so sorry for your hearing loss, but glad to hear that you already know ASL and how to read lips. I cannot in any way imagine what you are going through, but I wish you all the best that life has to offer. Please don't stop doing what you do, you are a good photographer and apparently a an awesome artist.
