It's winter here in Australia, in some places that means things get wetter and greener but not in Canberra. It gets cold here without snowing or raining so everything dries out, which is why the grass is brown, but it's not dead, it spends three quarters of the year that colour. :) Where the UK has all those lovely stone walls or hedgerows Oz has millions of kms of these kind of wire and post fences. The wire is under great tension, so the corner posts or t-junction posts need bracing to stop the tension of the wire pulling the post out of the ground. This kind of thing is what I grew up seeing, quite different from the UK or New England in the US. I'm currently trying to develop my eye for composition, *lines in* and and all that kind thing. So this was good practice.

Enjoy.

Mikel.

It's a little 'cluttered' Mikel....this woulda been a cracker without the grasses hiding that rustic corner post!

Nice photo indeed, great colours in this, and good focusing to boot.

No trees were killed in the sending of this message. However, a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced. Everyone has photographic memory; some just don't have the film. COME ON YOU GREENS, UP THE ARGYLE.....

I have to agree with /\ Bob, although to me, I don't mind the grass, it's the tree right over the support post that throws it askew for me. I do like the lines on it though.

They could cement the posts into the ground. Such nice colors and this very clear shot.

Well... the grasses on the right mixed with the tree in the background along with the wire going through the cloud do make it quite cluttered. I think the whisp of grasses in front of the post are nice though. It might be better if you stepped to the right to get a different angle excluding the tree and such but keeping your subject a bit on the right and not in the center. Or maybe just a crop would do it. I'm sorry Mikel, I'm not lovin' the lines here. Hmmm... it might be interesting to have the lens next to the barbed wire...
