Anthropologists contend that you can judge the things considered most important in a civilisation by what it spends the most money on constructing. From that perspective the business towers that crowd the hearts of every city are cathedrals to our modern gods. The old style cathedral in the foreground is the oldest Catholic church in the city of Melbourne.

Enjoy.

Mikel.

I absolutely love the concept of this image with the church lit up in the foreground and those towering skyscrapers behind. However if i may say i think that the church is quite overexposed and seems to overwhelm the shot a little. However im guessing if you tried to use a shorter exposure time the lights in the windows would not show up so well. Difficult balance! I do love how you have set it up and comosed it thought. Very inspiriational :D

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the almighty. I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom i trust". Psalm 91: 1 and 2

I'm really enjoying your night time shots, Mikel. "Will You Walk Here" was a beauty. My comfort zone does not lend itself to night time photography. Also I'm afraid of werewolves and vampires; so I'm typically in bed with the covers over my head by sundown.

I like the blatant contradictions in your posting. I've never been a fan of glass skyscrapers; so the impact of the old cathedral in the foreground is a wonderful contrast to the cold, unfeeling steel and glass in the background. Excellent shot. Should do well in the VB.

Interesting narrative. I like the comparison used with your image. I wonder if the anthropologist will be able to tell I spent the most on my children?! lol Definitely inspiring composition.
