A long dead Ghost Gum turning slowly back into soil, the story of it's life, as it's written in the sworls and patterns of the wood, slowly being lost for ever.

Enjoy.

Mikel...

This is an excellent study in the textures and colors of rotting wood as it returns to dust, or in this case soil. Love the horizontal flow of the weathered and decomposing bark. The few leaves at the bottom add some color to this unique story. The title is perfect. Your use of light and dark contrast has given this relatively shallow shot a great deal of depth. I feel like I'm wearing those funky 3-D glasses and peering into history. An 8.5+ out of 10.
