People's Square Shanghai on Chinese New Year's Day. A family doing what Chinese families do, taking the air together. Kinda cool. Us Westerners tend to hear most, from ourselves, our media, our commentators, our script writers, about the downsides of the collectivist and family first cultural patterns of Chinese society but that's a totally unbalanced presentation of the cultural reality. This shot presents a bit of balance, where so many Westerners wrestle with loneliness, isolation and fractured families, that's not a theme you find strongly in Chinese experience or narratives.
Enjoy.
