Obviously I've aggressively worked this over. It is the bottom end of Suzhou Creek close to one end of the The Bund Boardwalk in Shanghai. I don't generally like this slapdash aesthetic that is now a clear stylistic meme in Western pop art but it felt like the appropriate groove for this particular shot, perhaps because of what this area felt like while I was there, seriously gritty and visually uncompromising.
