I visited Kyoto in 2014 and loved it. This is Kyoto, which is a low rise city, no skyscrapers to be seen, viewed thru one of the small pavilions at the entrance to Kiyomizu-Dera Temple, which is a world heritage site and a fantastic place to visit. For me the frame of the view is more important than the view, so the title is a bit misleading.

There are so many beautiful textures in this structure and then one glimpses the lovely view. Both are stunning and put together, a unique site Mikel. Very nice presentation.

This image is almost unearthly...the lighting, shadows and textures of the room in the foreground, the stone pavement and the intricacy of the carvings are beautiful of themselves.

But then to provide a portal to the city with the mountains and dramatic clouds...it is just a stunning capture!

This makes me feel like I am looking out over the city from a monastery. I think I can hear some chanting behind me. Amazing work, and then some.

There is a wonderful depth to this and great lighting. A delight to get a glimpse inside this pavilion. I hope maybe you have some more of this interesting city.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

Depth, really? This is so amazing, it almost looks like 3D... superb piece of work and excellent execution of skills and imagination. Bravo!
