Another moderate-rez photo from my first digital, a 5mp P&S: back in early Spring 2006, I went out to check the mail and did a double take, seeing this monster moth on the wall beside the mailbox. That 2-1/2 inch brick reveals its actual size. When I brought it up on my office Mac what really drew me in was the way the dark patches look like the broken holes in a dry leaf. Nature rocks!

'Nik', when you'll check-out THIS LINK you'll see that I had a similar visitor, aka Lime Hawk-moth (Mimas tiliae) in my garden as well.
A rare appearance because since then I never seen such a moth again.
So you're capture is a rare and very interesting one too.
Nature rocks indeed, 😁 !

I really though this was autumn leaves at first glance. A unique capture.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

You have highlighted with this capture the incredible creations of mother nature ... gosh, it does make one think that the designs of nature have been adapted by man in many ways.

Nature finds a way to fool even the best predator. A quick view and it looks like a Fall leaf. Good photo.
