In Provins - France demonstartions of Knights draw a big crowd. If you want to have a taste the middle ages, you should go there. Here's my "artists impression" of what is to be seen over there. I experimented with some techniques to add an extra dimension to the tale.

Spectacular action shot .. but France is a little far .. Where I live they have a Renaissance Faire that comes around once a year .. a good excuse to drink fine ale (as though one is needed)

I would vote high .. if I could .. edit .. and now I can .. so I did

Stop trying to figure out who's talented and who's not, and just take a shot at it, okay? Do some art. Tell anybody who asks that I said it was all right. ---Emma Bull

I too would like to know what you altered here, I couldn't find anything... I like that there is nothing "innapropraite"/distracting in the background, it could almost have been taken in the days of King Arthur (if they had cameras etc). Great people/action shot.

What I changed here? Well almost everything. I cut out the knight, his lance and the horse. Put them in a seperate layer, enhanced color & clarity and gave them a soft focus and a motion blur. Then I blurred the forground an background in seperate layers. Lowered the colors and decreased the light. And then I put everything together again. The effect is a 3 d touch to the picture which makes the knight and horse stand out and create the motion.
Thanks for the interest!

If you can't find the words, you may as well shoot it...

A beautiful image. There's no doubt the knight and his horse really pop off the page. At first I thought DOF was responsible using an ultra supreme lens, but then I noticed the ground beneath them was also blurred and I sensed something was up - and then I read your explanation. Great job. It's really quite seamless work. It's a fun, vibrant image and captures the era wonderfully.
