Another Dutch highlight: the VOC ship Prins Willem, commissioned in 1651 served the Vereenigde Oostindie Compagnie as a "trading"vessel to Indie. After the return from it's first voyage it was mounted with 41 cannons and was used in the English war. It's probably the biggest tall ship of the VOC ever build. This photo is actually from a replica, with was hand made and crafted. This marvellous ship can be visited if you ever plan to come over to Holland, it's anchored in Den Helder.

With this image the matter is much easier for me - the composition of this photograph makes it absolutely outstanding image. Again top marks and thanks, Paul.

I love how the most effective part of the image is simply the rope. No offense to the mermaids. In fact, I like the bow of the ship better. The stern is kinda gaudy, although I like those little "bobbleheads" carved across the midsection.

I love these maritime photos. I had the great fortune of a tall ships festival coming to Bay City, Michigan a couple years ago. But I had the bad fortune of using a P&S (more accurately: POS) disposable camera to take pics. If anyone hasn't been to a tall ships show, jump at the chance if one should ever be near. Though this show quite easily betters the one I attended. I did get to see the Pride Of Baltimore II from the movie Amistad though. That's a very pretty ship.

great shot of one of my favourite subjects. The clarity is excellent it really shows the true craftmanship off to its full.
