You can see the said ladder behind the young man. It is hard to get a feeling for the size of the cliff faces. The trees grow tall and spindly so you assume things are smaller without a frame of reference, which I had supplied by the young man. In addition, his colors don't match the predominate green in the rest of the image, so you can't help but notice him and how small he looks compared to his environ. (By the way, the young man grew up in a city in New Jersey and never been other places. This was his first time walking a trail in a forest. Watching his reaction to what nature really is like was as fun for me as it was for him.)
