The mixture of yellow and red makes for a lively image, but in a tight bunch, it is overwhelming. Selectively focusing on the main subject is not enough to get it to stand out. Here, a beam of sunlight through the trees lights up the main subject enough to create a contrast in brightness that captures the eyes.
