Again with the HDR. Some barley field also in Lapua, Western Finland as was my first post. It was pretty windy as you can see from the ghosting on the barleys, but I think it kind of works... in some mysterious way :)
I’m not sure this was the best subject matter for the HDR treatment – high dynamic range is supposed to enhance and add detail but the opposite seems to have happened here – particularly in the sky. It’s important to remember that the HDR method essentially serves two purposes – as a creative tool to manipulate an already well exposed image into something more contrasted but equally exposed, or as a recovery tool of sorts to bring balance to an image which has extremes of contrast with very little highlight detail and too much shadowing. Like any post work; HDR isn’t a cure all treatment for any image but it’s very much in vogue at the moment so you see many images been given the work over when they probably didn’t need it in the first place.
