Alas with outstretched hand I sought
To bridge this carnal gap
Fearing not his stare!
Fearing not to dare!
But.. no bridge was meant, and in I went
Inside his monstrous yap.

So now I sit with light in hand
With little else to do
But reflect upon
My eschewed bond
While ‘round me slips in viscous drips
strands of primal goo.

At least the question burns no more
That once had plagued my mind
Am I outside
Am I inside
This awakened beast awaiting feast
.. decidedly, I’m inside :)

"I never looked for it, gave it no name; yet I knew it always, when the gift of peace came. I stood quite still for the moment that it lasted...Then the light shifted slightly and the moment passed, leaving me...with the lasting echo of its presence.." Diana Gabaldon

I'm not sure what this has been a journey through, but my 'gut' tells me I may have an idea. I'll have to digest the whole series a little more. Your poetry is wonderful and so are the images, even if I am wrong. lol

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being. - Hermes

i see something glazed-sponge maybe-but other than that i am mystified category wise.aside from that i think this is a very tactile image.the adjective that springs to mind is "sticky".teeth chewing a toffee?as usual evocative and stimulating, simon.

It's curious how badly this image did. This flow stone formation (captured in Howe Caverns in NY) was the most spectacular formation I've seen of it's kind, and the pic was my favorite of the whole lot (including the ones I didn't post). Curious that it didn't draw at least more curiosity! Hm maybe it *is* lame. Maybe leaving comments on my own image is lame, too :D

I thoroughly enjoyed the entirety of your lair series and poem! It was the face of this shot that caught my eye to begin with. What cavern was this?
