Beautiful either Sidewinder or Panamant Rattlesnake...im not to sure..but the thing is that I love snakes (especially rattlers) and I had never seen one in the wild until I found this little guy on the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada just above Bishop CA. So you know what I did?? I took a photo of him...and no I did not handle cuz that would be not smart. I love snakes, but I also love keeping my limbs....

luckily I had my 300mm lens on so I didnt have to get too close...I was well out of striking range...but the funny thing is that if he had not have rattle I prolly would have stept on him cuz thats how good his camo was. Crazy

It would still be too bliddy close for me mate!!!...a 92.000 mm lens would not be near enough either!!....I do admire you for your 'bravery' to capture this, and it is a well taken shot...Bob

Wow... the way you've focused on his head makes him look ready to slither right out of the screen. Very impressive. Snakes really can be mesmerizing, though I personally would probably wet my pants if I ended up this close to this guy.
