Hoarfrost covers the trees, cast in the morning light on this February morning. Evidence of nature's pallete and progression of the winter season. Step out of the car, *shivers* ..◊click◊

I'm really into goth rock and new wave. My favorite band is The Birthday Massacre. The guy in my avatar is, in fact, a guy. His name is Mana from the band Malice Mizer.

Rob, this is an amazing shot. I love the variation of the colors of the trees, the similarity of the color of the sky compared to the trees shadows. Adding the triptic framing really adds to the whole package. What's horefrost? Is that why a few of the trees look so white? Quite lovely. :)

Michelle, Horefrost (or Hoarfrost) is frozen dew (or fog) that forms a white coating on a surface when it freezes. In this case the trees that I took the pictures of and pretty much everything else that wasn't moving that morning (including 9 wire farm fence, weeds and grasses ... you name it). The deciduous trees stand out as, absent of leaves, the sun shines through them with ease illuminating the white frost. See also:
February Frost,
Can you hear it? and
Up close and personal for another examples taken the same morning.

We may only see hoarfrost a few times in the season and when it occurs, it's gone in a matter of hours, melting as the sun rises.

Glad you enjoyed the photo. Thanks for your compliment!

Diptic and Triptic framing is certainly not my invention but used here and a couple of my other pictures to give the eye distinct places to rest and training it to study the image seperately and together.

While I frame many of my pictures I do not do so exclusively. For those that I do and for those who prefer I don''t .. I would be glad to send you an unframed version on request by PM.

Thanks for the feedback.

I hold it true that thoughts are things; They're endowed with bodies, breath and wings: And that we send them forth to fill the world with good results, or ill. That which we call our secret thought speeds forth to earth's remotest spot, leaving it's blessings or it's woes like tracks behind it as it goes. We build our future, thought by thought for good or for ill, yet know it not. Yet so the universe was wrought . Thought is another name for fate. Choose then thy destiny and wait, for Love brings Love and Hate brings Hate. - Henry Van Dyke.
