There is this "Mount Pilatus" excursion in Lucerne, Swiss that takes you to the resort up top and gets you back to town (half a day). You ride a bus, a boat, an uphill very steep (48 degrees, the steepest in the world) cogwheel train and then, a cable car with a fabulous view of the town and the mountains and lakes; all included in the tour at a very reasonable price. Highly recommended if you happen to plan a trip to Swiss. This is the view from our gondola (cabin). It was a sunny, clear day and you can see the town and lake, and even the bridge, in the distance. I thought it should make a good DT. Hope you'll like it! ps The original is 3600x2700! Pity I had to downsize it!

Fabulous ride, but it can get a little warm on a sunny day. Did you get a shot of the chalet on left? I sure wish I had the digital, then. You have done the view justice. Wonderful capture.

Yes, this is such a lovely spot in Switzerland, and here is where the high Alps start, north, lays Lucern with lake Lucern, behind that only hills, but on the other side, (south) the real mountains start, from the pilatus (2,5 km) to the real big ones of 4,5 km hight. I have made a little page for you, of images i shot from the Pilatus.
Just have a look if you can make the time. I specialy like nr 2, that shows the steap climb of the cog :-) have a look :
