We went to the DOC (Department of Conservation) office in Queenstown to ask if there were any short walks nearby that we might take; the girl at the counter recommended one to Lake Dispute, which you can see part of on the left (the other one is, once again, Lake Wakatipu). We assumed this would be an easy trip round the lake; however, at the point where I took this shot we had already climbed quite a steep hill from the road; you can see the path leading off over the hill through farmland; then hiked a not inconsiderable distance up this one (which was still a much more gentle slope than the first). After crossing over the top of this ridge and starting down the other side I decided it would be wiser to head back. God knows where we might have ended up if we had kept going... one of the signs said it was four hours to the next lake if I remember correctly and I think that's where we were headed. Anyway at least the trip back down was a lot easier, and took about a quarter of the time! The view was nice I guess... but then this is the sort of thing we saw around every corner of the road in these parts...

Hello Sam. I don't think a photo could be sharper or more beautiful than this one. The colours are electrical and absolutely7 wonderful! What a grand place to be. How easy it could be to take this kind of beauty for granted. But, it's way too special for that. ENjoy this area as I know you have.I'm sure you were very tired after all that, but think of how much you gained from the whole thing. Congrats. Verena

Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

What caught my eye is all the different angles (slopes) of this scene ... even the clouds. Nice rich colors & detail. Beautifully captured Sam.

A beautiful view of this landscape. Wonderful crisp colours and clarity in your shot. Well worth the hike from the looks of it.

In order to discover who you are, first learn who everybody else is; you're what's left.

Sam I can't say anything that has not already been said about this photo so I would like to thank you for taking your walk and for bringing back this fine picture.

Great shot Sam. I really like the deep blue you got at the top. I don't think it ever gets clear enough here to have that effect.

Sam... this is breathtaking... such a sharp image... Well done, I'm sure it wasn't easy getting there but worth the trouble!
