That IS very cool. This shows a lot of imagination. You've named it very appropriately; it looks just like microorganisms floating in a drop of water. Good job at recognizing areas where you can improve on your own too. I know a lot of artists that can never find anything negetive about their own work and become offended when other people point out things.
Hmm, lets see now. The one thing that does strike me is the lack of an interesting focal point. Right now everything carries the same abount of importance. You might try bumping up the contrast on just one or two of the bacteria by making it a stronger color, perhaps green. Yeah, green would complement the red ones floating around there. Anyway, good first try, and I hope to see a lot more creative stuff from you.
