A nice idea for an image. I can't tell if you handheld your camera, but I suggest you use a tripod if you haven't already. Does your camera have a depth of field preview button? If it does try that as well. You do good work on your jewelry. Do you ever design around gem stones? If so I may be interested in having you design some for me to have set with opals. I've been cutting since I was 16 and am now 60 this coming 1st of June.
Keep up the good work.
I appreciate the effort to present the jewellery with flair but such a small fraction of the subject is in focus that tends to strongly diminish the impact you were after. As Michael (Photoimagery, he's a Praetor here on Caedes, knows what he's talking about.) hinted with his reference to the tripod - a tripod, a long exposure with the smallest possible aperture, might bring much more of your work of art into good focus, showing us much more of the detail that you sweated over.
