i just used a polarizer filter, seems though i had it turned the wrong way, with the sky and all. i also did a 1/15 sec exposure with a 28-300 zoom lense. (this is without a tripod so i tried to hold it as still as i could) I was having a problem with the focus though when i had the polarixing filter on... anyone had this problem?
Nice image. Study the image in the view finder as you turn the polarizer filter and watch for the little changes in the reflections. A polarizing filter isn't equally effective in all directions, instead it has most effect when it's at 90 degrees to the sun or other dominant light source. Put your thumb and first finger at right angles to each other; if you keep your finger pointed towards the sun and at the same time rotate your wrist, the directions to which your thumb can point will be the directions where the filter will have most effect. If you point the lens directly towards the sun or directly away from the sun then the filter will have no effect at all. There are two types of polarizing filter, linear and circular; if your camera has auto-exposure and auto-focus then you probably need to buy a circular polarizer, because the linear polarizer will probably interfere with these functions. The dramatic results which this filter gives you comes at a cost - you'll lose up to two stops of light when using a polarizing filter. I hope this helps.

i have a circular polarizer, i find it hard however to look through that small image in the view finder. i cant tell the colors, or even if it is in focus or not
