Film and digital each have their advantages. The thing about digital that continues to amaze me is the macro capability that comes as standard. How is it possible to get this sort of clarity from 2 inches, on a lens that also takes good landscapes?

Very brilliant detail Simon! You have also managed to catch very deep depth of field for this macro shot. Is this from a Canon compact? Great shot:-)

Thank you for such kind comments :-) It was taken with a Minolta Dimage Z1, using flash and stopping down to f8 to increase the depth of field, Darryl. Thanks for your intertest.

Very nice. The colors are brilliant and the whites are white. That indicates to me that you definitely know how to use your white balance correctly. (You would not believe how many people don't even know there is such a thing.)
I like the fact the center of the flower is not dead center, good composition.
Over my lifetime I've been very lucky to take workshops from some of the best photographers in the US and one theme that has been a truism in ALL of the workshops is to avoid what most call "Wobbles". That is where one of the main elements of the image just barely touches the edge of the frame. It is better to either give it room to breath or make a very definite chunk out of it.
That is the only criticism I have of this image (and it's a small one). The bottom “Stamen” (the “Anther” part) actually touches the edge of the frame.
By allowing that to happen it gives the eye a way out of the image. I like to give potential "wobbles” room to breathe. Therefore it does not give the eye anywhere to go but into the image.
That's only my opinion and you know what they say about opinions.
This image is still a - 10 and in my favorites.
