Excellent shot Simon. What were the specs of this shot? You look to be fairly close to the subject. I never get this close...good job:-)

This makes a really excellent wallpaper. I love the contrasts between the smooth and undulating waves and the dark black abrasive rock. The the bird perched there really makes the whole image. it wouldnt be nearly so good without it. Excellent work :)

Thank you all :-) This was taken with 10x optical zoom, equivalent to a 380mm lens in 35mm terms, and then cropped a little, so I wasn't as close as it might look, Darryl. I was hoping for a clearer shot of the bird, but agree with Rachel that the different elements in the picture make it better than the one I was trying for ;-)

The rock anchors the composition very well, and puts the bird in just the right place. Very pleasing shot! My only suggestion would be to crop out the little bit of sky...I think it would strengthen the focus on the rock, waves and bird.

What a classic shot. I would indeed crop out the rest of the sky. This has everything in it perfectly placed. How fortunate to have that bird perched on that rock for you. And the rock itself is unique. It has somekind of seaweed decorating it. Great capture Simon.
