This is my first official comment on one of your images, Ray; so I'll do what I like to call "my best" although many people would also gleefully state that my best falls well short of being acceptable. Nonetheless, people thinking I'm a can short of a six-pack hasn't stopped me or even slowed me sown; so I'll plunge blindly ahead and see where my fingers take me.
I like the monochromatic coloration of the shot. It does seem to translate into bleakness pretty well. I see no noise which is quite a feat considering the potential in that sky. I think I see some haloing around the lamp post although perhaps the lamp is emitting an aura that only I can see. I have no problem with the tilting grave markers as they sometimes become dislodged as the dead try to get out, but I'm curious about the left leaning building on the right. It doesn't look like one of those wide angle focal problems; so I'll assume you have your own "Leaning Tower of Whitby". All and all, I'd give this shot a solid 8 if there were a C-Index.
Great comment - thanks Roger. For the record the original shot had the lamppost leaning which looked odd, so I straightened it and in doing so inadvertantly pulled in the tower of the church which I then couldn't straighten without losing some of the cross on the right so I left it as is. The halo was as a result of using the High Pass filter somewhere along the post-production way. Ray.
