I agree, it is better balanced in this composition. One thing I might suggest about shooting flowers is to pick off the brown parts before shooting, it makes a much more aesthetically pleasing image. I don't know if you have access to Photoshop but on my flower shots I like to use the clone stamp or spot healing tool to get rid of any blemishes on the leaves or petals. I really like the profile of the fuzzy edges on the flowers in the back too. I might have cropped it even more to make them more prominent, but it's still nice. :)
It IS a lot better. I have to agree about the dead flower comment though; it would look better without them. You also might want to opt for a more sunny day to do serious shooing of flowers. Light adds dimention and luminosity to the semi-transparent petals.
