I was asked to give a comment on this picture, Again, I must confess I'm not the best person for the job! But here's my honest opinion:
The subject portrays an arid landscape. the combination of the rather leafless tree and the desert in the background relays a sense of bareness and poverty; it fills me with sadness. The bush in front seems to be reaching out to the clouds for the mercy of a drop of rain.
Technically, the image is well composed: there are adequate elements of land, plant and sky. That the land occupies more space than the sky -to me- is an emphasis on the thirst of the soil and plants. The sky is beautiful: the colour is impressive; you see hope in the distance in the sky, a sharp contrast to the rest of the image. The lighting is excellent: generous, yet not overdone.
Overall, I rate this picture as a very very nice shot although the subject itself is not ideal for me (quite personal!). Well done!
G'day Kevin,
Fantastic image, well composed, though the horizon needs leveling, great colour and a sense of space and size accomplished thru that excellent composition.
