Nice shot, but actually it is a cicada, most likely a "dog-days cicada". Locusts are short horned grasshoppers that are swarming.

These are so interesting. While living in LOuisiana, I saw many of them, and the sounds they make are awesome. They shed their skin at one time, and then begin again. I love their green colour. They are really unique. I always think of them as sort of part of the Dinosaur ages...Nice that you saw this and caught a good photo of it. Verena
