I'm not sure what kind of insect it is either, but I'm enjoying the patterns on it. Excellent detail too. Very nicely captured.

Best wide-angle lens? Two steps backward. Look for the 'ah-ha'. Ernest Haas

Awesome photo! It looks like it might belong to the stinkbug family. Not sure though.

His markings really pop on the yellow background. It does look like a mask! I like all the lines on the insect verses the soft background.

Geat detail on this little fella and the part of the flower in the foreground. Love the soft matching color of the background. Nice one!

I can't exactly confirm that he's wearing camo. He stands right out on those yellow blossoms. Nicely captured.

We don’t make art to show someone what something looks like. All this requires is eyes (or a lens). Art is supposed to have meaning, emotion, power, or magic. Alan & Mario "FourThirds"

Your are right. I remember seeing an African native in National Geographic with a mask with almost the same pattern. Art copying nature, I suppose... And with good cause. Great capture, Tom.

Just sharp on the edge it needed to be. Just love the reddish feets, and the overall yellow tone of the image. Spot on ! a well preformed posting.

Locust Borer. Megacyllene robiniae. Adult

Pest description and crop damage. The adult locust borer resembles a wasp or hornet being black with bright yellow markings. There is a yellow “W” across the wing covers (Elytra). Adults are ca/ 1 inch (50 mm) in length. Their legs are reddish.

Nice shot however. :-)
