Long Wharf in Boston was built in 1720 and was a third of a mile long to accommodate large ships out in the harbor. Land has since been reclaimed from the bay for building which shortened the pier. The customs house building on the right was built in 1848 and another just behind was built in 1760 and is now the Chart house restaurant.

Great perspective - love the long view with the modern building at the rear.

The mooring posts / chains are prominent to the view and make me feel like I'm standing beside them. They provide a nice effect to this clear image Tom.

I remember when this area of Boston was derelict and dangerous. With the restoration and development of Quincy Market, it is a choice attraction for both tourists and Bostonians. Once again, you have chosen a perspective that is both interesting and informative. Good use of foreground elements to provide the perspective needed to appreciate the length of the wharf.

It is hard to imagine that Boston originally was a hilly city on a narrow peninsula. As you note in your narrative, the city was expanded by digging down the hills and putting the earth along the shorelines.
