I think that your Red Tail is actually a Red Shoulder
Hawk. A defining feature would be the black feathers on
the wing with the white spotts combined with the red
breast. If you were able to see the tail it would have
black and white horizontal stripes.

Nice capture. There are lots of people on the site that would
like to get that close to a hawk. A minor suggestion; notice
that your bird's eye appears as a black shadow. Take the first
shot to lower your anxiety and then try to wait for the bird
to turn its head in a way that the eye is lit up by the sun.
You will see it as a sparkle, then pull the trigger again. I
think that you will notice a big difference. This applys to all
animals and people as well. Great job.
