Incredible clarity and detail in this wonderful shot, Greg. That bird must be something of a contortionist to get his head-&-beak at such an angle. Marvellous capture - good work!

A dirty bird maybe but a clean and sharp image. The de-saturated background is very effective.

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being. - Hermes

Clarity is the word on everyone's lips about this one and I feel the same way. The pose you just captured beautifully, but it wouldn't be half the pic without that clear shot of this unusual bird.

I'm guessing this is a young bird? The plumage can't just be dirty can it? You got lots of detail here, and the perfect pose. Can you imagine having to go through life dealing with a great big beak like that?!
