I like the focal length you used, just the right amount of stem is clear. The background isn't that contrasting to the subject so the bud kind of blends into the rest of the image, perhaps a time of day when shadows would be caught in the photo.

Nice image, good idea getting a perspective of a "dormant" rose, not everyone would think of this. Kudos to you.

First impression -- macro of calyces and hip of a dead flower, adequate lighting, good focus, some depth of field -- technically unimpressive. When I viewed image full-size -- a surprising plethora of colors and textures.. Quite an interesting shot. Thanks, Ron...
