This isn't the best egret that I have but I thought it might be interesting to share. It's one of my first "super resolution" attempts, where multiple images are merged to make a single higher resolution one. But note that even though the egret stood motionless for the six exposures that went into this, you can still see the displacement of its chest from breathing! Enjoy. (I know this is too dark. It's just the raw image.)

Why do the pictures come out square when the lens is round??
This is a nice photo or should I say photos. It's very sharp but it looks a little underexposed to see detail in the lower extremity. Overall though a quality pic(s).

Alan, a little dark for my taste overall, but a superb post from a technical standpoint. I would never have guessed it was 6 exposures merged into one! Thanx for the explanation.

It is a little bit dark but I like the reflection of the egret. Nice capture :)

Thanks for all the comments. Bonus points to everyone that noticed and commented about it being too dark. I should have made it more clear that this is a raw image that has not yet been cleaned up (or adjusted for exposure, etc.). I put it up just to mention the super res experimenting and thought that it's interesting that the chest seemed to be moving when the head was perfectly still. Super resolution is an attempt of mine to get back some of the 30-50 Megapixels that I used to have with film. Thank you all.
