This guy wasn't camera shy and I still think it's one of my favorite pictures. I tried my best to make it look good for a horizontal wallpaper given that it was shot vertically.
What a cute shot Brett. This guy looks like he is shy!!! Could that be? I really like the way you made the room for icons & didn't use black..it is much more appealing to me. Room for my icons AND Mr. Pelican. Thank you :)
Brett this shot is good by itself - I like pelicans, but what you did with it is astounding. Getting a vertical image into a horizontal aspect has always bewildered me, but you may have just presented a viable solution. Bravo! 10/10 !
The background was orginally a gradiant with 2 colors that I got from the water. Then I copied and pasted sections from the edge of the photograph, enlarged them, gaussian blurred, and then made them about 65% opaque. This helped to make a border that complimented the photo rather than intruding.
The idea really comes from some of ABC's HD broadcasts that use the effect when their video doesn't fill a 16x9 widescreen image ;-)
Good work with the borders, but the bird is definitely the star. That's a great pose, almost as tho' he's trying to hide behind the post, or afraid of falling in the water or something. Very nice shot :-)

I don't have to much bad to say about this photo except that it's a tad blurry. Great composition and the frame is excellent!!! I love the blue water! Fantastic work.
