I live to the river the Waal, about 500 meters as from the dike. It is fine live to a river. If there is high water this gives beautiful image. There are always dikes at the river, because differently everything would run under. The Netherlands means "low lands" if were no dikes and dunes there the half Netherlands lay under water. A large part lies therefore under the sea level. With high water the water-meadows run full, that is a broad piece country between water and the dike. Here it is very not yet high, in 1995, water was above to the edge. Then we had evacuate all that them frightened were all that would be flooded. Still we have a good live to the river.
