After many messages between myself and Les (&purmusic), with regard to monitor calibration, I've finally deleted the original and re-posted this version (which is actually ver. 5). Hopefully it's clearer and lighter, but just as moody as I originally intended. All comments are greatly appreciated.

I like this better. It's still nice and dark, but you can also see the creatures coming to eat you. :))

Ahhhhh, yes, this is exactly how I envisioned this image should look. Your original post of the image (which btw was good) had the mood there, but was on the dark side regarding the background.

Les' (&purmusic) rework of your image brought out the subtle details in the background superbly, though I felt the main subjects were too light in areas.

With that, I'd say you found a happy medium between the two while still maintaining the mood of this image as well as bringing out the details in the background. The suggested monitor calibration given to you by Les did the trick as well as your wonderful editing skills.

Looks fantastic on both of my DT's.

Outstanding work Paul & best of luck in the contest. :-)

Bit dark, no? :o|

:oD

Lol. Just kidding, just kidding Paul.

Well, my soulmate in commentaries (Sherree) said it all. And as an aside, really glad you managed to find the balance between your original vision ... and then, this presentation to us. :o)

The light rays falling on an angle work much better here in this version in my humble opinion.

Now, in retrospect ... and a bit then as well, no question that the version posted by yours truly is too light. That said ... it was more than worth the time and discussion that was generated.

Good luck in the contest. :o)
