My husband and I are still learning how to use our cameras. We take photography trips and challenge ourselves to learn something new each trip. This trip was learning how to change our focal points and to work on the depth of field. We're old dogs, so learning new tricks takes us a lot of practice.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . Your shot is lovely, Sheri, but adding the border is probably the culprit. You may have cropped it too tight, and the border covered the petal tips.
When parts of a prime subject exit a border it tends to draw the viewers eyes out of the picture. It may not seem a big deal, but it can be a significant factor in unobstructed viewing.
The space above those tips should be about 3 to 4 times the width of that border (prior to creating an inside border)
If you also have the option of an outside border, 2 to 3 times this border width would be fine.

I didn't crop or do anything to the photo other than resize it for Caedes.

Sheri - I like this image a lot. It has soft lighting that accentuates the delicate petals and varied shades of pink. Nicely done! Thad

The colour of this rose coupled with the expert way in which you have captured it, is a feast for the eyes. I just love the way the rose's petals are darker and gradually lighten towards its centre. Beautiful and of course I had to fav this one. Thank you for sharing. Those lessons you're having are not in vain if this is the result. Well done both of you!
