Very cool, It makes you feel as if the persons almost afraid to venture out. Almost as if he where veiwer of the world instead of a particapent.
I think the adding touch would be shadow coming from the chair and drawing.
This is spooky, almost like an Escher painting. The guy that did all those optical illusion paintings. Its very good though and i like the warm colours you've used to take an adge off the room. Its great!
I think this is totally cool. I don't know if the title addresses the mystery/tension. And being the rugged outdoorsy (cough) individual that I am, I'm drawn to that yummy sundrenched scene (perhaps that was your intention). It's like that battle cry of the computer age ... "There's a beautiful world out there, so get up from your computer and go outside" ... But he can't get the door open.
(you can tell I don't pay attention to the 'battle cry' by how badly I mangled it)
That is so amazing. I cant imagine how you put this together!! I do agree about the shadows too...that would MAKE the picture! wow. These soft tones..with the warm light coming thru the doorway...and the starkness of the figure...it sets such a solemn yet somehow softly tender mood..very very good!!
good idea but....badly treats..... the couch was badly stamped and the chair and the people at the window was cut out too badly... im sorry! you could have done more from it!
I like how the most dominantly artistic aspect of this picture, the brilliantly full outdoors, is left out of the small paunting. Instead, only a timid and hesitant creature is held by that easle, and that makes this whole image out of place in a most wonderful way. This speaks to me. Thanks.
This ... this I love. Out of all your works, this one, I feel is your strongest piece.
Conceptually, compositionally and so forth. The pieces I tend to like have a quality about them that begs more closer inspection. That there is, in fact, more than meets the eye in that initial first look and perusal. You certainly captured that essence and I spent a good amount of time ... just looking, changing resolutions ... looking at it.
Again, I wish I had the benefit of asking a few questions of you with regards to this image.
I am not sure how you could have accomplished this ... the muting of the area around the chair and easel. In it's current form, the cropping I can imagine was problematic (was the original a watercolour or something?), yet, you dealt with the issue wonderfully. I would like to have seen some more texture, however, around that portion of the image ...
... ok, ok ... just did that 'looking' thing again ... went back to view and it hit me ... the shadow of the easel and chair are missing and that element, if it were to be included would satisfy my senseless rantings above, lol. Simply, I noticed in a lower resolution, that image appealled to me more ... the 'glare' in that portion of the image is too much at a higher resolution and I am trying ... trying in my novice ways to suggest a remedy.
What do you think?
And all of this has given me an idea ... look in the discussion boards for it ... and thanks for sharing.
I feel this represents a lonely, inspiration-less being, possibly depressed. Perhaps the loss of inspiration and the joy in something he once loved has faded. Maybe he sees how beautiful the world could be, but perhaps doesn't know how to get out there-or maybe there's a safety in those calm, plain walls that makes the outside seem overwhelming?
This is honestly an expression of what true art is about...a very meaningful post..but as for me I want to go out those doors and explore the fall surroundings :D
Evening fall is beautiful....I can feel the warmth, almost the heat of the room as I look out at the secluded area of tall trees where the sun shines through. It's beautiful. Though separated, you are a part.
This is a very nice picture...the feeling is like when you have had a long, tiring day, and you unwind by taking in the simple pleasures of life, in this case, by looking out at the fall scenery.
Just found this when your 'Today' was featured on the front page of caedes and I think it is stunning. Worthy of a Magritte tag I think! Really good vision and execution. Love the mood and atmosphere and the slight feeling of threat I get here is totaly surrealist. +tmy+
My goodness, I DID see this before!! I remember it was the same time period I joined caedes. Wow, that's been a while. I'm so happy I have "found you" again...I'm enjoying yur gallery.Verena
