I applied sharpen to this image as much as I dared without loosing detail. Then I applied a posterizer filter. Then a rough canvas filter at only 75% and very small relief. Framed it with ragged edges. Hope you like it. I lost a lot of detail in the original photo because I had to zoom to the max which gets into the digital zoom part of the camera. This leads to excess graininess. But I liked the pose of the birds and the setting they were in and I thought it was a shame to waste the shot.

It works very well in this medium as a textured view of a natural setting...the composition of the photo in the first place was excellent, and I wanted to add that I appreciate you telling us all the work that went into it because in some ways it then becomes a semi-tutorial. A lot of us would like to know how to do some of these effects, and things that can happen when equipment is pushed to the max, and there isn't enough sharing of info along that line, IMHO...but then not everyone wants to give away their secrets....I certainly don't...LOL..j/k j/k j/k..thanks again, Frank. :)PJ

Great job in salvaging this Frank. I've always thought once you get into "digital zoom" too much resolution is sacrificed. Been disappointed several times myself. Never went to the trouble you did on this ... after seeing what can be done I have some regrets. Much credit to you for posting this well composed shot.

Just an old "Grampa" who still has a Kodak "Box" camera kicking around the attic ... learning and enjoying the wonders of modern digital photography.

Wow! I wouldn't know where to begin. It sounds like a lot of work, but you are so good at using the software that it probably took you all of five minutes. I like the pose and it was worth saving.
