Hi Cyril. I can understand why you choose to use portrait view rather than landscape view in taking your picture here. I make the supposition that you desired to capture the sense of perspective and sharpness of the angles of the building in relation to the curve of the columns. You have done that quite well. However the boldness of the outer borders really distract ones eyes away from your subject - namely the architecture of the building. Maybe if the same view was taken in the 'landscape' view, with a wide angle and a small aperture then you would still achieve the sense of perspective but also making the palm tree an additional point of interest in the frame. Also, I can see that the shadows are quite short, indicating that this photo was taken when the sun was high in the sky. Maybe if you visted the same scene at sunrise/sunset, the softer, more diffuse light would compliment the form of the building better. Also the orange tones of light at those times of day would set of the light colour of the building as well as the terracotta coloured one in the background. Warm wishes, Iain.
