tutorial on the effect i used in my image Curiosity and Story Time i know a good majician doesnt give away his tricks, but i guess im not much of a majician. hopefully this will also satisfy those of you who wanted to see curiosities origional. For those of you who want to try this technique, please pick your images carefully, i dont want to see a hundred new pictures using this technique on ill-suited pictures in the near future :P

good tutorial. explained very well, tho it would still require some knowledge of photoshop in order to follow the tutorial. I like the effect. I think it is better suited for your first image than your second. Agree with your last statement. In fact it would be good if this effect was seen very rarely.

definitely this effect cannot be used effectively very much, as i've found out, but it is very fun to experiment with. personally i really like how it worked in Painted Fire although that is not such a popular image.
usually it is simply more fun to work with and experiment with than to get a real quality product, but i think its worth messing around with, especially if you have some good interesting close-ups of people.

It's nice to see the original to support my first comment that this technique worked very well for this image. Thank you for sharing the tutorial.

Very clear tutorial. I agree on sparing use, an image needs a lot of good highlights and texture to make this work.
