i'd like to get more imformation on the eagle nebula.. if you know of any other web sites that can give me information on the eagle nebula, and the gas pillars i'd love to know about them.. thanks. katy.
When I saw this for the first time in a space mag I thought it was an artist conseption , too Unreal to be real. It gave me a new perspective on just how fantasic the universe is.
Everyone likes the Eagle Nebula. I do too. Like most nebula, it's a stellar nursery (where stars are formed). Despite how it looks, the nebula is not expanding but shrinking and being blown downwards by solar forces from nearby (above) stars. The stars seen in the picture are actually behind the nebula. The tendrils or pillars seen near the top are where dense areas of gas or almost-formed stars are resisting the push of the solar waves, like a stone in the sand. Thinking about it all, it is just that much more amazing!
Which God in fact are ALL of you talking about? Science disproves religion everyday...are we all naive? Fact vs fiction. Do you believe that dinosaurs existed? Because if you don't, than you think all of the actual evidence is all a huge hoax, right?
Give me a break...
The eagle nebula is quite stunning to look at.
Let King David of Israel, whom even atheistic historians cannot deny the existance and reign of, speak the truth on this matter as seen in his writings in Psalm 19:1: "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands."
Science, by its very nature, cannot "prove" anything...it can merely disprove. And my friend, science is far from disproving the workings and power of God because we must all come to a point of faith in the beginnins of the universe, the earth, and our very existance. What's it gonna be...faith in mere chance and seemingly impossible random happenins, or faith in one true God who created the heavens and the earth, and who created you, loves you, and desires to spend eternity with you?
First of all I would like to quote Albert Einstein, one of the most famopus scientists EVER and a very religious man, he said "God does not play dice". In his own way good old Albert was saying to the world that maybe, just maybe all these scientific theories about the creation of the universe are the rules and guidlines that god used to create the universe and that maybe science and religion dont necessarily negate each other outright. As an athiest myself the sheer beauty of images make me realise just how beautiful everything is in my short and fleeting life and i treasure my accidental existance even more, with love in my heart for all those around me. Have a good one, Raul Duke.
Take the childish God versus science pseudo intellectual/theological flame war somewhere else. You won't change each other's minds and I could care less to read about the attempts to do so.
The image is beautiful.
However, I agree that it is awfully artifacted. At 1024x768, I find it extremely artifacted and full of jpeg noise. While it is my current background, I will look for a higher resolution image to replace it.
Weird... Call me crazy, but I don't find that -particularly- beautiful. It's fantastic that it exists in the universe, true, but somehow I just don't get the aesthetic appeal. (The colors are nice, but the shape isn't pleasant to me.)
Or maybe I've seen that image so much that's almost like a cliche to me.
