Medicine Bow peak is 12,030 feet ,(3666.7 meters) high. The lake in the foreground is Mirror lake. More about the lake another day. This beautiful and quiet place holds a dark secret. On October 6th, 1955, A Commercial Airline, C54, crashed into the mountain killing all 66 passengers and crew aboard. It missed clearing the top of the peak by only 23 feet, (7.0) meters. The cause of the crash was never determined.

Wow, what an incredibly impressive and wild place. i love the composition with the trees coming in from the right, and the rocks and peaks coming in from the left. the bluish cliffs at the back are very detailed and imposing. love the colour of the sky too, but i dont really like the vignetting in the corners.

Nice capture, I like the composition, but the black blur in the left upper corner could be edited out. I'm not sure if it was added deliberately as the comment above suggests but to me it looks like a finger or lens cap got in the way...

Gorgeous! Crystal clear. I am hoping to one day make it to the really rugged areas of Wyoming. My choir performed in Laramie and Cheyenne two years ago during our annual spring tour, and the mountains were only visible on the distant horizon. Lovely photo!
