Good shot. The selective focus on the bug with the blurred background looks very nice to eye, details are good as well. I like your presentation here. It would have been a terrific shot if the bug was in full focus. Keep posting :)

Think 'we' have to approach your work with a different mindset and 'other' eyes.

Seems to me.. that if you wished to have the bug in focus throughout ... you could accomplish that photographic goal.

As presented to us, I get the distinct impression that you clearly want the focus on the pattern/textures/colour of the insect's back. (Which, you allude to in your image's title.)


I like how you composed this one.

Now, everything else is relegated to a strong supporting role within frame due to the DOF employed ... to that of the 'art from above'.


Caveats?

If I may be bold..

Although I do understand the reasoning behind including your name and such.. half that size would work better. So as to not be as strong of a visual element and in turn, mitigate it's potential as a distraction.

Perhaps, add in the make and model of your camera to your accompanying narratives? Might provide a leaping off point for some more tips, advice, et al.
